Kids Fitness – How To Give Your Kids A Lifetime Of Fitness And Health

By Jon Dyson 1. The Good Life Of course you want the best for your kids so they can have a good life and be healthy, wealthy and happy. And the family is their core training ground. Unfortunately, kids fitness programs or fitness games dont always figure in family activities. Naturally, this doesnt help Even well-meaning parents send mixed messages to kids on health issues. For example, I watched a family friend telling her two kids that smoking was a very, very bad thing. Nice message. The snag was she was puffing away herself at the same time. As an observer, it looked ridiculous. And the look on the faces of the kids was one of complete incomprehension. How could mummy do bad things? In other words, the message was confusing, contradictory and insincere even to the kids. 2. Right AND Wrong Despite being the right thing to say from a health and fitness perspective, a number of unintentional hidden messages were given off: 1. you dont have to practice what you preach 2. you can say one thing and do another 3. can say one thing and mean another 4. you dont have to be sincere. 3. Can YOU Be Believed? Now, apart from sending disturbing messages to her kids, this mum was also undermining herself. To me, she didnt seem to be a bad person. And I doubt that her kids would think so either. They just wouldnt believe her. By not practicing what she preached, the real message was that she didnt mean it. But what kind of a message was that for her kids? How can that be taken seriously? 4. THREE Critical Lessons Lesson One is fairly obvious: its best to practice what you preach if you want to be believable. Lesson Two is maybe less obvious. Yet its something that everyone in sales knows: telling isnt selling. Thats why the holiday sales rep shows you pictures or a film. Why? Because when you buy it yourself by believing it, you are more likely to move to the next step and buy it with your cash. In other words, showing is more powerful than telling. Lesson Three is also not so obvious. The car salesperson wants you to sit in the car and maybe take a drive. Why? Because to experience something yourself is even better than being shown it. And this is only achieved by active participation rather than as a spectator. Action speaks louder than words. In other words, a superior salesperson will get you to sell what ever it is to yourself! 5. Teaching YOUR Children Bad Behaviour The big lesson of all this is that if you want to be successful in making sure your kids are fit and healthy, you need to be that superior sales person. This means not telling kids not to smoke while at the same time smoking yourself. Because a daily demonstration of speaking with a forked tongue, by not practicing what you preach, is a daily tuition service to kids that inconsistency, insincerity and dishonesty are all OK. The same goes for unhealthy drinking or taking drugs. The same also goes for eating junk food. And the same goes for exercise and fitness. Not practicing what you preach in any of these risks passing on bad behaviour. But if passing on harmful behaviour is so easy, why not pass on good behaviour instead? And if this means taking seriously the daily demonstrations you give to your kids, then both you and your kids will be better off, dont you think? 6. THREE Top Tips But what does this mean for the health and fitness? How do we draw these lessons together? Take these top three points: 1. Practice what you preach. 2. To show is more effective than to tell. 3. Actions speak louder than words. What better way to demonstrate healthy behaviour than to practice it with your kids? This will go beyond supporting kids by just going along to see them in sporting activities at school or college. It means taking part in sporting and fitness activities with them. Even if you prefer a fitness program of working out as a garage warrior to joining a gym, and you have neither the desire nor the intention of becoming a muscle-monster, you can still help yourself and your kids to fitness in your gym. Even though practically everyone seems dazzled by weights and fitness apparatus these days, its generally safer and more effective to avoid the usual dangers of using weights and other fitness equipment and to concentrate instead on bodyweight exercises. 7. Family First But in addition to that, outside the home or gym there is a wealth of fitness activities that can be done with kids. Many can be real family pursuits. For example: Swimming Cycling Hiking and camping Boot camps for specific activities Adventure holidays. These are all relatively simple to arrange but they are all great for health and fitness. And an activity holiday will beat for price a normal holiday that involves a continuous round of expense to be entertained and amused. Even better, such activities helps prevent kids from becoming mere spectators of the activities and sports of others. Yet this is all the sporting activity that most people get! Better still, each one can be arranged with other families in groups or clubs. Hows that for a terrific way to meet and make friends with other like-minded and positive people? Hows that for a great way to counter the bad examples all around that indoctrinate us with poor and unhealthy behaviour? PLUS, as an added bonus, YOU get to keep fitter too! How to Get a College Student Loan

By Jim Ferris College student loans are available through Sallie Mae and its subsidiary Nellie Mae, Citibank, The Stafford Federal Loan, Perkins (which is a low five percent interest loan for students funded federally and paid back directly to your school) and many private lending institutions. The Plus program where parents can borrow at a low rate to help fund their child’s continuing education is also available. You can access all of these programs online. You can no longer consolidate your college student loans while you are in school but after graduation you can consolidate to ease the financial strain by merging all the different loans into one and spreading the resulting consolidated loan over 12 to 30 years. College student loans are a scary subject for some students and parents but with some careful planning and some research you will be able to fully fund your college needs. When you are at the beginning of your college career, the whole subject of student loans seems overwhelming. Don’t despair, you will be able to negotiate all the arrangements to suit your style and pocketbook and after an initial exposure the whole subject becomes nothing more than a little tedious. But you must do it and exercise due diligence before accepting the terms of new loans and arrangements. Talk to other students in front of you, your career counselor and other family members who have already travel led this road. The program, free application for student aid known as FAFSA is a federally funded aid program that will seek out and find what grants and scholarships you qualify for before you must look into any loans at all. Funds are disbursed directly to the school you plan to attend with any reminder paid directly to you from your college. You can access FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov to find the appropriate details and forms. There are no fees involved. Get started now on your college funding program. It will quickly become old hat to you and the trepidation will be replaced by familiarity. Good Luck! Jim Ferris is a seasoned advisor to those with poor to bad credit. Tips to Find an Accounting Job

By Christopher Luck Where is the best place to find an accounting job? Every time I have ever had to look for a job it has been difficult. It isn’t so much that there aren’t jobs out there, but it is a matter of finding the ones that are. To find an accounting job, you will want to use three main resources: the internet, the local paper, and an employment service or headhunter. Here are some tips that may help you in your search for that accounting job you want. The first thing to do in getting your accounting job is to look online. There are a number of job sites on the internet that can help you. Most of them will allow you to sort job openings by location. Then, you can search by keyword so you could type accounting in to find accounting jobs in your area. There are also job sites that specialize in accounting jobs, which may be of great help in your specific situation. So check out the internet for your accounting job as a first step and you just might find yourself without a need to try any other steps. The next thing you can try in your effort to land an accounting job is to check out your local paper. Many companies that have openings will advertise in the town newspaper and not online. That means you can find open accounting jobs in the paper that may not show up online. Check the classifieds and you should find under jobs that there is a section just for accounting jobs that can be a big help to you. The other advantage to a job you find in the newspaper is that you are going to be more easily able to tell where exactly the job is. Often, jobs online are not specific with contact information, plus there is always the chance that the jobs you are looking at on a website are being put there by an employment agency and not the primary company offering the accounting job. Third, you can check with an employment agency or headhunter in your area. To find your accounting job, if you use a good company they should not charge you anything. The clients who seek to fill a position, but who do not want to have to deal with the interviewing process pay the companies. You should be able to find a good accounting job if you have the right qualifications and find the right headhunter or agency. Finding an accounting job doesn’t have to be difficult. Like with any job search, it is just about knowing where to go to find the openings in your area. Check online job websites, your local newspaper, and finally local employment agencies and headhunters to locate the accounting job that makes the most sense for you. How to Have Assurance in Your Relationship

By Ethan Berry Do you realize that God teaches us through Jesus Christs personal experiences how to have a fabulous, long lasting, and loving relationship? All we have to do is compare the personal experiences that we have with those of Jesus Christ and ask ourselves, What would Jesus do? The personal experiences we have with God in our life helps us learn and grow into love. After all, love is what makes and breaks relationships. 1 John Chapter 3 verse reads “11″: For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We often have conversations with people we befriend or associates who deal with ethics: right and wrong or good and evil. People often categorize themselves with good or evil based on their belief system and the circumstances at that moment. Each person, depending on their belief system, has the ability to rationalize his or her actions or reactions based on the way they view the world at a specific time. Hence we have the moving target of right and wrong, good and evil and what is ethical. This is why it is necessary to have immutable laws, laws given by God, to give humans the truth to think and live by. I thought about how this affects us in our relationships and I discovered that Gods laws affect humans by giving us assurance of what is right and wrong and His Holy Spirit leads and guides us into righteousness and truth. However, it is up to us to receive what God has for us. We, as individuals, can choose to ignore Gods influence in our life. Those of us, who seek peace and love with others, would be well served to pay close attention to what Gods laws have taught us through the writings in the Bible and specifically the words of Jesus Christ. Because it is Gods laws that give us assurance in our relationships. What You Need The definition of Assurance is: Inspires confidence; guarantee or pledge; Free from doubt; Self Confidence; Presumption. We all need to understand the simple examples that God gives us in regards to establishing and maintaining relationships via Bible illustration in the old and New Testament teachings. We must keep in mind that there are many types of relationships: working relationships, dating relationships, husband and wife relationships, church relationships, spiritual relationships, lustful relationships, love relationships, etc. The Bible talks about all types of relationships and we need to understand what these relationships are for. For instance, God established the Church (we are the Church collectively; each person whom the Holy Spirit dwells in is part of the church. Some get this confused with the church building) to be his bride because he loves each and everyone person, whether or not, if they love Him. God is a jealous God. This is why he sent his Son, the bridegroom, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for the sins of the world. Only through reading and studying the Bible, particularly the words of Jesus, will you get a full understanding of what you need from God. 2 Timothy Chapter 2 verse 15 says: “15″: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. This becomes the assurance we have for our relationships. When You Need It Now that we know that Gods word gives us instruction and assurance in relationships, it is just as important that we understand Gods word, we need to know when we need to use it. Gods word is not something that you read and intellectualize. Gods word is truth and life. We need Gods word all of the time, in every situation, in every relationship, in every trial or tribulation, in every celebration and every occasion. John chapter 1, verse 17 states: “17″: For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Gods words are for every situation in our lives, all of the time. This assurance gives us the confidence we need to respond and act like Jesus Christ in every relationship that we have. Why You Need It We humans have a tendency get into relationships and rationalize whats right and wrong, good and evil based on how we feel at the moment, we need Gods word to help us find our way back to the truth. Have you ever noticed anyone who does something bad to someone and then tells him or her that they love them? Makes you wonder doesnt it? To do what is good, is synonymous with having love. 1 Peter Chapter 3 talks about the way people should act toward each other. “8″: Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: “9″: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. “10″: For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: “11″: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. As you can imagine, if we could take inventory of our own life, day by day, minute by minute, I dare say, daily each of us has fallen short of what Peter was saying. This is why you need Gods word and his holy spirit Colossians Chapter 2 verse 2 speaks of getting assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ. “2″: That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ. To have assurance is to have wisdom and understanding that goes beyond trusting in the things that you can get from someone or give to someone. To have assurance you must get the mind of Jesus Christ to do the things of God. This is what gives us the faith to receive those things which we cannot see and believe with confidence that what God has for us, no one can take away. Faith Is Necessary To Have Assurance We need to have faith to believe in God and faith comes by reading and hearing the word of God. Romans Chapter 10 verse 17 states, “17″: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. After we hear Gods word through the Bible, we must read it for ourselves to be able to meditate on it and allow the spirit of God to minister to our spirit. Through the Holy Spirit we can gain assurance in God. Conclusion To have assurance in your relationship, learn about what Jesus Christ says about relationships and follow Him. Planning Your Dream Wedding Under Your Budget

By David Z A wedding is suppose to be a wonderland of dreams and perfect memories that will endure through the hardships of life, no one wants to mis-plan their wedding and no one wants to get so involved in planning the wedding that they have no time to enjoy the ceremony. I have put together a few steps that will help you plan and have a wedding of your dream within your budget. 1. Establish Your Budget: Everyone wants to spend $100,000 on a dream wedding for their daughters and sons, yet no one wants to give it up. Be realistic, how much will you really spend or can you afford to spend? You must determine this from the very beginning, or else you will be constantly battling yourself and what you are trying to accomplish. 2. Decide Upon the Theme: Are you looking for a wedding at the park or in a ball room? This will matter when planning on decorating and cost effectiveness of what you can afford. For example, a wedding in a park is much cheaper and practical. However, in a nice ball room will be palatial and protected from the elements should rain or something else fall from the sky. 3. Plan Everything down to the guest gift bags: Now that you know the budget you can afford and what you are looking for, plan. Plan like you are doing a $100,000 wedding. Write down what you would need, white tents, tables, chairs, food, photographers, etc. 4. Begin to Price Shop: Now the bargain hunting begins. Now that you have seen prices and planned on certain items that you will need shop around. Tables and chairs are easy and can be found cheaply at many locations, mark the easiest off the list first. Then find a photographer and book them for the occasion way in advance. Now that the most critical things are planned such as location, photographer and hardware. Plan for the small things that can really make a wedding. Gift bags are a nice touch to help everyone remember the ceremony and can be done cheaply. One thing commonly done is to acquire a gift magazine/wedding magazine and see the prices and items and then make them yourselves. With a group of 10-20 you can accomplish such a task in a matter of hours and save hundreds of dollars yet maintaining the prestige of a big expensive wedding. 5. Wedding Planner and Caterer: It should not be up to the bride and groom nor any of the parents to maintain a wedding and make sure that everything goes according to plan, because then someone misses out on all the fun. Either hire a wedding planner or get a close relative that is a good organizer to act as your wedding planner. This will take a lot of stress and complications out of the ordeal. 6. Lastly, never do the food yourself. It is time consuming and not cost effective no matter how much money. A business will properly prepare and ensure good food. No last minute purchases or baking. Then you will also have two or three people to serve the food for everyone. Trust me in this, a few hundred people at a wedding will take at least 45 minutes to and hour to just get them their plates and courses. Many people will spend a greater part of the day cooking and serving while not enjoying the momentous occasion. Don’t get stuck again preparing and over-tasking for the wedding, it is a special day that only happens once. If you plan accordingly and shop online for many goods you can save thousands and afford to have a catered and planned event. Buying Antiques in France

By James Ross France is great country to find antiques at bargain prices. Every town there has many places where you can purchase antiques. Driving though the French countryside will give you the opportunity to find many different places where you can examine and buy antiques. In fact, many collectors from other European countries like the UK travel across the channel and across the border to find bargains. France is renowned for its antiques markets, but you can also find a great variety of shops selling antiques. But you will find the most benefit in visiting the antique fairs, where great bargains can be found. The best time to go is during is during spring, summer and also the autumn. Even in the winter you can find such events and you are probably more likely to find better bargains as during that time there will be less tourists and hence more possibilities to strike a better deal. When you go over to antique fairs in France it is a good idea to have some working knowledge of the French language. You will find that some dealers have some knowledge of English but French people are very proud of their language and do appreciate you making the effort to speak it. Even if you take a phrase book with you to aid you in finding the right things to say it will come in very handy when haggling for an antique piece that has taken your fancy as well as winning over the vendor who will appreciate your efforts to speak French. The best way to collect antiques in France if you live in Europe is if you take with you a vehicle large enough to carry the antique you have bought. Obviously this might not be as practical if you live over the Atlantic. In such a case it is best to go for smaller items like jewelery, ceramics and other various ornaments that you can put on the shelf of you home, and that can be packed in a suitcase. Either that or find out in advance what it would cost to have bigger items like antique furniture shipped over. Finding out venues where antique fairs are held in France is not difficult as France like many southern countries in Europe like Italy has buzzing markets every weekend. Although such markets include other items like food and clothes, you will often find a large number of vendors selling antiques. A lot of these vendors also include who set up stalls to sell items of their home that they want to get rid of. This offers the best opportunities to get the best deal possible. In fact many car boot salesmen and women who do so professionally or semi-professionally in the UK travel a lot to France to get such bargains on antiques to re-sell at their equivalent venues, turning over a tidy profit even after factoring in the cost of travel and shipping the antiques across the Channel. Buying and selling antiques has become really competitive and limiting yourself to your country could still be a profitable and enjoyable experience. However travelling to places like France has made antique collecting even more enjoyable and profitable. The fact that you can travel around European Union members countries without a passport avoiding the hassle of through customs has indeed made it much easier and more popular and yet still novel enough to provide you with many great antique bargains for years to come. Coin Collecting Different Branches

By Michael Russell When you approach the fascinating hobby of coin collecting for the first time, it can be very daunting to look at the many possible options available to you. There are many specialist areas in which you can invest your time and money, or of course you can always remain as a general coin collector, never deciding to specialize. Often the best way to start collecting coins is just to start with the coins in circulation in your own country. This is a risk free option, as you can always decide to sell the coins if you decide the hobby is not for you. While you are doing this, you can obtain a good reference book on the hobby and begin to think of a specialist area you might want to pursue. You could, of course, decide to specialize in the coins of one particular country. This is a very common way for collectors to start. Others go to the opposite extreme and try to collect coins from as many different countries as possible. Many collectors will only collect coins from a certain period in history, such as collectors of ancient coins. There are many different types of specialization available within each of these broad categories. Many collectors are series collectors. They will try to obtain one example of every possible date and mint mark that was produced, including any major differences in the design of the coin. Type collectors go beyond this, by collecting many different series, even trying to obtain all possible series within a certain type. They will usually concentrate on the coins of one country, at least at that particular time. Collectors of ancient coins are a breed apart. It is surprising how many of these coins remain available today and how relatively easily obtained they are. Even going back to several centuries before the birth of Christ, coins are readily available that fall easily within the average collector’s budget. Gold coins are the most expensive, followed by silver and then bronze. It is possible to obtain a coin from before the birth of Christ for only 5 ($10) to 10 ($20). Another breed apart are the collectors of tokens. In Great Britain, for example, tokens were often privately produced in response to the Government’s failure to produce the necessary low-denomination currency to allow many forms of trade to take place. These privately produced tokens were used in place of official government issue coinage and the Government was largely unsuccessful in preventing their use. This happened in three different centuries, in the middle of the seventeenth century, towards the end of the eighteenth century and at the start of the nineteenth century. Even after government legislation was passed outlawing these unofficial tokens, their use still continued. They were used in place of the farthing, the quarter of a penny coin, until the end of the nineteenth century. After this, when inflation had eliminated the need for these tokens, other forms of artificial money were still used. It can be a fascinating part of the hobby just deciding which among the many options you are going to choose. Please make sure that you avail yourself of an excellent reference book so you can make an informed choice. I wish you many happy hours. Raising Mealworms

By Eric Morris Mealworms are the larval form of the darkling beetle (Tenebrio molitor). They are clean, do not carry human diseases and most importantly, are a nutritious food supplement readily accepted by birds and fishes. Mealworms can be offered to birds to entice them to use a nest box or to assist the incubating female to find food quickly so that she does not have to leave her eggs for long periods of time. They act as supplementary food for nestling if food becomes scarce when weather conditions prevent the parents from finding insects and, help them survive during spells of severe winter weather. Raising mealworms is quite easy, requiring only a grain source such as wheat bran, cornmeal, chicken mash or oatmeal. To provide moisture, one may add a piece of potato, apple or banana peel on a paper towel or a cardboard about once a week. Care should be taken that the meal itself doesn’t become too moist. Mealworms can be kept in shallow plastic containers (2 to 5 gallons capacity) that are covered with a lid that provides good air circulation (a cover of screen or perforated metal can be used). The containers are to be kept in the dark because darkling beetle prefers darkness. If one intends to raise mealworms, a piece of cloth can be placed over a portion of the grain to provide a surface on which the adult beetles can lay their eggs. The mealworms burrow below the surface of the grain and undergo a series of molts. Their development is most rapid at the optimum temperature of 80 F. After the last molt, the larva comes to the surface and metamorphoses into naked white pupae for 6 – 18 days and then finally into a beetle. It is interesting to note that although the adult beetles have wings but they rarely fly. They usually lay their eggs 9 – 20 days after emergence and then die. Egg incubation is about 4-19 days. Eventually, waste products or “frass” builds up and a slight odor of ammonia will be detected. When this occurs, the grain needs to be sifted to separate the worms and adult beetles. The container is to be washed and new grain should be added. Dry cat food can be added to the grain to enhance the protein value of the mealworm for birds. Keeping them in the refrigerator for a few weeks, up to several months can slow the mealworm metabolism down. If you plan to do so, the vegetable matter must be removed first. Worms provides detailed information on Worms, Dog Worms, Ring Worm, Tape Worms and more. Worms is affiliated with Insect Bites. Brand Management- Marlboro

By Sharon White Marlboros annual sales exceed $15 billion. It is the number two brand in the world after Coca-Cola. And it is a number one cigarette brand. It is a common knowledge that cigarette industry is going downwards, however, Marlboro is only getting stronger at the same time. Every third American chooses to smoke Marlboro. Marlboro is a dominant brand domestically and worldwide. Marlboro’s image is the most powerful and evocative in the tobacco world. It encapsulates overt masculinity; to the young it can mean adulthood; it can also represent freedom, adventure and independence; to the urban dweller it can mean the escape to nature; to female smokers in the developed world it can mean the right to make one’s own decisions; to many smokers it is seen as setting the standard for good taste and flavour; it is exciting, contemporary and dynamic. The cowboy is a myth figure and thus is timeless. It epitomises the key image characteristics, reinforces the winner element in Marlboro and expresses the American heritage. Because of the image being young and because of the timeless appeal of the cowboy, the brand can constantly appear young, fresh and contemporary. From the start the Marlboro man was set up to symbolize ideal masculinity. Many people would argue that the Marlboro man represents a return to the American original heritage, that he is the ‘last free American.’ This certainly has some truth in it. The Marlboro man was generated during a period that heavily emphasized the appeal of the Western frontier. Once brand values have been identified, they should drive all other activities impacting on customers and be used to achieve consistency, which is so meaningful to consumers. All aspects of marketing and communications should reflect the brand values, as should company employees in demonstrating those values in their behaviour to customers. In this sense the Marlboro Man appears to have a purpose and agenda, yet the flexibility to do things his own way. Control is another major theme in the advertisements: whether pulling in his horse with the reins, gathering up the stray sheep, or even just standing, looking out into the distance, the Marlboro Man is portrayed as having immense control over things and his life. This idea of controllability has a dual influence, attracting women as well. Heroism and the concept of being “one with nature” also play important roles in enticing women. Sex appeal is also present and portrayed through the cowboy’s physique and symbolism. The cowboys in Marlboro advertisements come to represent men of substance, strength, and fearlessness. And perhaps most importantly, these real cowboys came to represent real men, to all the workers stuck in their offices in the city. These cowboys become a possibility, a feasible goal for these men. Similarly, Marlboro Country permeates the attractive values of the cowboy, namely adventure, independence, freedom, and heroism. Although Marlboro has often been narrowly defined as a male brand, it also has enormous appeal to women. This is because, underneath the cowboy clothes is an authentic man who possesses all the qualities both men and women desire. When a man looks at the inviting landscape of Marlboro Country and the rugged cowboy, he is being exposed to a number of powerful messages. Looking at the open grass fields, the viewer sees escape from the pressures, stresses of mundane life. When interpreting the lone cowboy riding his horse, he feels a sense of independence and autonomy. As Keller suggests, brand personality reflects how people feel about a brand rather than what they think the brand is or does. A brand with the right personality can result in a consumer feeling that the brand is relevant and ‘my kind of product’. Two elements affect an individual’s relationship with a brand. First, there is the relationship between the brand-as-a-person and the customer, which is analogous to the relationship between two people. Second, there is the brand personality – that is, the type of person the brand represents. The brand personality provides depth, feelings and liking to the relationship. Of course, a brand-customer relationship can also be based on a functional benefit. In this case the Marlboro cowboy projects a free spirited, masculine brand personality. The success of Marlboro is based on this great brand personality brought to life in the ‘rugged American cowboy,’ and the client’s discipline to stick to it over the years. Considering the Aaker brand personality scale, Marlboro’s key factor would be ‘Ruggedness’, with facets including outdoorsy, tough, masculine and western. The brand personality is assigning personality qualities that inanimate products thus make the product stand out from the competition. The Marlboro personality is a classic example of how a company understands and combines the physical and emotional elements that appeal to certain customers who live or would like to live a certain lifestyle. What one should consider here is Marlboro’s actual and potential product markets. These can be broken down into inner core, outer core, extension areas and no go areas. When considering the inner core, one looks at the critical elements in brand image associations. These would hereby be the Marlboro Man, ruggedness, individualism and masculinity. The outer core factors are those which may be altered, while the extension areas are those areas to which the brand can be widened without damage to the brand. These are explored at a later stage in the report. The no go areas are those which would damage and compromise clarity of brand proposition. In Marlboro’s case the areas would include any form of female cosmetic products. This is largely due to the fact that Marlboro has established their masculine personality and it would make no sense at all to try move into female markets. This would only result in confusion as to what personality they are exactly trying to achieve and in turn would damage the Marlboro name. The success of Marlboro cigarettes, which has triumphantly crossed all kinds of cultural and social barriers, lies with the Marlboro cowboy who has become an international icon even in countries where cowboys never existed. The main objective should be to consistently promote one’s core branding properties. Whenever legally possible, for instance, Marlboro’s ‘brand advertising is universally the same, all over the world, pitched to every socio-economic level.’ The leadership essence of cigarettes is embodied in Marlboro. This brand was founded with the brief of being ‘the cigarette for men which women like’. The cowboy icon and later stereotyping, such as American Independence and Marlboro’s Wild West Country, were identifiers which translated the meaning of this essence into an image for generations of consumers to wear. Another association is that of the red chevron which has always done a great job in ensuring that Marlboro’s pack stands out from the crowd. The consistency of Marlboro’s red flag is the connecting thread which keeps the whole history of the brand’s equity alive. The article was produced by the member of masterpapers.com. Questions to Ask at College Fairs

By Chris Stout Before attending a college fair, spend some time thinking about what’s important to you. This is not as easy as it might seem. You might think that you instinctively will know what to ask representatives from various colleges, but the college fair environment can be hectic and overwhelming. To make sure the colleges you’re interested in will offer everything that you’re looking for, you might even consider making a little chart for yourself. Put the colleges whose booths you’ll visit along the left side, and make a row of check boxes. The college that meets the most of your requirements will be the one to set your sights on. Small versus Large You might already have an idea of how many students attend the college or university, but if you don’t, you should ask. You should also inquire about average class sizes. If you will spend a lot of time in lectures of 200 people are more, but you were hoping for an environment where you’d be one in a group of 20 or fewer students, you should know before you apply. Academics What do you want to study? What do you already love that you intend on pursuing in college? Some schools are better than others when it comes to different disciplines. Whether you want to become an etymologist or an entomologist, make sure the school you’re scouting will make that possible for you. Distribution Requirements Ask about these. At some schools, every student is required to take a wide variety of courses outside his or her major. While the benefits of a broadening education are without question, if you absolutely hate math and science, you might be better off picking a school that will not require you to take them. Activities If you are a columnist for your student newspaper and you would like to continue in college, ask about the college’s student newspaper and how you can go about getting involved. If you love theater but don’t necessarily want to major in it, make sure your prospective college has enough of a theater program that you’ll be able to participate as well. You also might just broadly ask what extracurricular activities the school offers. You might end up finding yourself fascinated with a school you hadn’t previously considered because it offers an activity you’ve always wanted to try. Make-up of the Student Body Do you want to make sure you’re going to school with people from all walks of life, from all over the world? For many students, exposure to different kinds of people is one of the best forms of extra-curricular education that college provides them. Ask the college representatives to describe the demographics of the student body for you. Take a look at more industry related articles by Chris Stout at CareersandEducation.com .
